To clear up a few things about the recent snake gif-set, since some people seem to be worried about the wellbeing of the snake and the owner.

  • Snakes sometimes require baths because it helps them shed and poop healthily. Some snakes will actually voluntarily soak in water for long periods of time, although this doesn’t appear to be one of them. ;)
  • Captive blood pythons are not life-endangering pets. Although they have more attitude than most pet snakes and can deal a hefty bite, they are not actually capable of lethal damage. Safety methods, like using a hook and/or avoiding sudden movements, should be observed when handling large or aggressive snakes.
  • That snake isn’t showing signs of aggression, and you can see that the owner is using a hook, so there’s not much danger involved for either party.
  • Snakes don’t have the brain capacity to feel affectionate emotions like love or hate, or to show affection or disdain for anyone in particular. Snakes have three main thoughts: ‘I’m hungry,’ ‘I feel threatened,’ and ‘I feel safe.’
